"Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Our programs offer a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community."

One of the programs that Awana offers is the Sparks program. The Sparks program is divided into three years. "In three years, Sparkies will survey the main people and events of the Bible. Not only will they learn specifics, but they will also see how the whole Bible fits together as God's plan to save the world through Christ."

The program I received to review was Wing Runner. The Wing Runner program is for children in the 2nd year of the Sparks series. The kit includes tools for discipleship at home: entrance booklet, student handbook, verse music CD, and a parent handbook so the adult can learn alongside her child.

The entrance booklet featured the characters Sparky the Firefly and his friends Chloe, Jacob, and Joel. My daughter loved reading the booklet to me and I loved that it helped her to remember  John 3:16. We also enjoyed listening to the music, sound effects, and the dramatic readings in the review CD. When we were completing the activities in the Sparky book, I would have her read the stories but sometimes she only wanted to listen to the CD. I loved that the CD provided a song to help my daughter remember all 27 books of the New Testament. She also loved the word search that incorporated the name of some of the books found in the New Testament.  I loved being able to discuss the Bible and sections found in the book with my daughter. We loved this program so much that she is looking forward to participating in an Awana program.
